You're just too Marvelous, too marvelous for words.....

More marvelous press on Humanité thanks to the publication Fun things to do in the Mountains! This piece focuses on the reason Humanité exists...to aide in supporting the amazing organizations Heart for Africa and New Century Scholars who strive to make a difference on a daily basis. We love how they asked the right questions in order to discover the planted seeds that would eventually grow into our little store :)

Thank you Amy Ammons Garza and the folks at Fun things for getting Humanité in front of the masses in WNC, Tennessee and Virginia!

Thank you Tuckasegee Reader!

A few weeks ago, the gurus behind the new Tuckasegee Reader online and print newspaper (tuckreader.com) came by the store and asked to write a story about Humanité and the details that reflect our mission. I met with them last week and presto! the finished product is now on their website for all to see! A bit of a warning...try not too be distracted by my hands as I went all "Ricky Bobby" and made it look like I had no idea what to do with them :)

And more great news! Keep checking out tuckreader.com as I'll be contributing on a weekly basis to highlight more style news, tips and events from around the mountains and in Humanité. Thanks for being so good to me Tuckasegee reader!

A big thank you to Giles Morris for putting together a great finished product!

Full court press!

It looks like someone is getting the memo because we have been approached by another news outlet to do a story on Humanité! This time it's with tuckreader.com, a newspaper that uses the internet as their main platform in order to get the news of the area to the masses. We LOVE their concept - it's not a new idea, but they have worked and tweaked into an exciting and knowledgeable vehicle that gets the vibe and culture of the area out to those who want to know. (Soapbox time: if you or your friends are obsessed with the area from Cashiers to the Nantahala Gorge area, than checking out tuckreader.com is an absolute must - be sure to read the "learn more about tuck reader" tab on their top left page to know what their all about...ok, I'm done) They'll be at the store today to conduct the interview...or try to translate the word vomit I tend to get when asked about the concept of the store. There are SO MANY elements that are Humanité that I can't control what comes out of my mouth from the excitement. Wish them good luck! :)

We know you don't want to know our schedule around here, but we promised to be open with you so here it goes! This week is slam jam packed - which is exactly how we like it. Today, we have an interview at the store with tuckreader.com ; a meeting with Allison Outdoor advertising to go over art work for Humanité's billboard (yes, we're getting a billboard on the highway so you can continuously look at the eye candy that is Humanité's logo. It'll be half-way between Bryson and Sylva..woohoo!) Than we're off on a short trip to Atlanta for the apparel mart, where we'll be scoping out some new designers and the Spring collections for Spring '11. We'll also be bringing back some new jewelry to fill up our trees!

We haven't forgotten about "What Moxie is wearing..." as we'll be posting that in a bit. Stay tuned as we show you guys another article written about Humanité from the local magazine, "Fun things to do in the Mountains".

Papa-Paparazzi!

Ahhhh!!! That's just me bursting with sheer excitement because Humanité has just been featured in the popular design blog, House tweaking! Ahhh!!! (another outburst of happiness, sorry!)
I've put every hope, dream and ounce of ambition into Humanité. So when someone takes notice of the ambiance and decor that has been painstakingly analyzed over and over again by none other than moi, I can't help but feel as happy and proud as a mother would! Dana (the wizard behind the blog) really captures the main design elements of Humanité and presents them with great pictures and descriptions. I love that in some of the pictures Dana took of the store, all my secret tools of the trade are displayed for all to see; My Macbook and coffee. Hey, ya gotta do whatcha gotta do, right? :)

Take a look at House tweaking's post about Humanité, but don't stop there! Bookmark her page, put it on your blog roll or write it on your refrigerator...she has uh.ma.zing. tips on how to renovate and decorate your home on a budget. Fun fact of the day that, well, you probably won't really care about but made me smile....when looking through house tweaking's past posts, I saw her bedroom is decorated EXACTLY like mine. Right down to the white, ribbed ikea bedspread and the decorative bed pillows that are in coral and various shades of green. How crazy is that!? Kindred spirits? I think so.

Thank you so much Dana! Here's to your great success.

Go Cats!

WCU's homecoming festivities are scheduled for this weekend, so we put together a few frocks that were inspired by event! Here's to my fellow alumni in the hopes that you don't get lost for days when walking around the newly built campus - bring a flashlight, your cell and a flask just in case to keep you warm! :) Enjoy!

Purple and Gold accessories? Check!

Game day attire? Check!

Cute frock to go out with the girls? Yes, please.

And the best outfit of them all to help wind down from the fun weekend. Sweatpants, t-shirt and flip-flops.

This week, Moxie is.......(10/5/10)

Moxie decided to take a long weekend and explore the area. She's wanted to try out the new Chocolate Shoppe beside Humanité since it opened and then cruise around the sidewalks for other local treats. She knows it to be cool in the morning and warm in afternoon, so she dresses in layers she can easily shed them and still look stylish.

Gray t-shirt material cascading cardigan - $40.00
Brown flats - $24.00 (also available in black)

So many events, not enough clothes! But Moxie has picked pieces she can wear to work with a few extras and be good to go. Just shed the jacket, cardigan and tights, roll up the boots to make them taller and she's ready for after hours dinner with the girls.

A big presentation requires Moxie to go dressier than usual, but with the fun twist on the navy dress she's also wearing it for fall wedding. The white coat looks perfect with jeans too! (Like her friend Erin, Moxie is a little unsteady in high heels so she had a little help standing up when having her picture made)

White dress coat - $110.00
Navy asymmetrical dress with belt - $58.00
Black vixen heels - $24.00

A day at home with chores and a to-do list, Moxie needed to wear something comfortable while buzzing around her house. She had to make a mad-dash to the store before it closed, so she threw on her coat and a scarf and was out the door.

Eco navy long sleeve hooded shirt - $40.00
Eco gray long sweat pants - $30.00
Eco purple t-shirt material scarf - $25.00
