C'est la vie

I had one of those mornings this week that was nothing short than a comedy of errors or a re-run of a really bad slapstick sitcom show. One that is so stupid that you just have to laugh because of the ridiculousness of everything - a funny misstep or fall, one right after another. The details are basic and mundane and really no big deal, but I really hate it when something starts to control my life without my permission so I'm starting the day over again with a list of things I'm grateful for. Some are tips that I've learned over the years that make my daily routine much easier and others are nothing short than love letters from our God that just wants to say hi and that He loves me.

1. Coffee - not much explanation needed here but I highly encourage the addiction. I'm honored to say that when I call Mountain Perks in the afternoon, they know my coffee drink of choice without discussion and happily deliver it to the store when I can't leave. My customers thank them for my alertness :)

2. Oscar Blandi pronto dry shampoo - soaks up the oil from 2nd, 3rd and 4th day hair and allows you to style it as you had just washed and dried. Cannot live without this product - I used baby powder for years before getting a free sample at the mecca of Sephora and have been a convert ever since.

3. Our new kittens aka chad's little snake killers - We named them Norman and Croix (after St. Croix and Norman Island) and they still have that sweet new kitten smell that I love so much. Tiny and cute are such sweet packages.

4. A husband who knows soaking a drenched blackberry in rice will soak the moisture up and allow it to work again after you accidentally spilled your water directly onto it on the way to work out.

5. A husband that knows the importance of your blackberry and keeps calm when you can't even remember your name after 2 hours of sleep and the greeting of 7am. You get it, he's awesome.

6. My wonderful girls at Humanité - Nicolette, Caroline, Cayla and Mekenzie. I'm so thankful for your enthusiasm for the store and it's products. But I'm more thankful that by being here, you allow me time to get to the heart of Humanité and work on why it's really here - to aide the awesome organizations we contribute to and growing the business into a viable source to non-profits, volunteers and those that need it most and of course our amazing community. With an eye towards fashion of course!

7. Hot water with freshly squeezed lemon juice - so thankful for this little nugget of gold. Whether I'm feeling sluggish, I've hit a plateau during weight loss or my face looks like a giant pizza - I've learned that drinking about 3/4 a coffee cup of hot water w/freshly squeezed lemon juice first thing in the morning (don't eat for at least another 30 minutes) for 1-2 weeks is the most amazing natural remedy. Before Chad and I were married I read in the book, The Fat Flush Diet, that it aides in cleaning the liver (our bodies natural filter) and helps rid it of toxins. Not sure it works for everyone but it does the trick for me every single time. A little of God's all natural love :)

8. Our beautiful mountains - Truly, there is no place more beautiful in the summer or spring time than where our little town is nestled into the mountains. Even when we didn't live here, we always made sure to be here as much as possible on the weekends so we could take in the beauty of the area and take advantage of the activities that come along with being here. Isn't it an awesome sight when your driving back to Bryson from I-40 or I-26 past Asheville and you get your first glimpse of the mountains again? Gives a different meaning to going green :)
