The Winter Dish

Who's not a fan of cold, winter weather? This girl! (bring on the sunshine and 70 degree weather!) but I do enjoy the small hiatus it gives Humanité to play catch-up after our (awesomely!) busy year and the chance to bury myself deep into planning mode for 2012 (the joy I get from planning is kinda ridiculous...but y'all know that)

Here are the small joys and happenings that have been going down since December:

Finally read the books and am now (impatiently) counting down the days until this:

Everything that makes me inexplicably happy is captured in this video. I haven't stopped listening to and watching this since December:

Combined work and play to hang out with two of my favorite and my best in NYC. Kelly Ripa is our other best. She may not know it yet :)

A friend designed, made, and installed this light fixture inside Humanité to show off his amazing and ridiculous amount of talent:

(more info on friend, light and his designs later...sorry for the iphone pic...it doesn't do it justice)

BEYOND excited to be offering gorgeous scarves, like these, from the company fashionABLE:

This product is different - like Humanité, fashionABLE's purpose is bigger than just the bottom-line. To quote their website, "Your purchase of a fashionABLE scarf creates sustainable business for women in Africa.  Our commitment as a non-profit is to the development of people — fashionABLE works with women who have been exploited due to the effects of poverty.  So, when you purchase a scarf you are providing jobs, and then we send the net profits back to holistically rehabilitate more women. This is the beauty of non-profit….". In short? They create jobs and teach skill - they don't just offer a handout but create an environment to change poverty in the world.
They'll be in Humanité by the end of February!

Loving the new darker, plum tint in my favorite lip moisturizer - my lips get so dry in the winter that I'm surprised they haven't completely shriveled up and fallen off my face.

This is the only lip moisturizer I've found that actually works - and it comes in great color tints!

I'm happy to announce that Humanité will be offering more accessories this year that are similar in their charitable missions to us and fashionABLE . It took lots of research to hunt down the products that fit Humanité's customer base, our low price points and had a sustainable, charitable component to their business model. Every month, new items will be arriving from these amazing companies! Stay tuned - I'll update you with each new arrival!

And another reminder that Humanité's webstore, www.shophumanite.com is up, running smoothly and quite possibly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. You should bookmark this beauty!
