As seen in....

My homeys in Hollywood are finally wearing trends that are figure flattering, timeless and fun! This week we checked out the style watch section in People magazine for their fashions in the 'wood and have compared them with Humanité's (much cooler and affordable) versions.

Ruffles, ruffles everywhere!

Humanité's version in store: (Please excuse my amateur and hurried photos!)

Navy Blue ruffle dress - $42.00; would look AMAZING with black leggings/tights and boots!

Navy padded ruffle vest - $50.00; adding ruffles shows a great twist on this winter staple.

Black ruffle tank (also available in white) - $50.00; a thicker version of the regular tank top, it's a piece that's perfect for all 4-seasons. Just add a coat, cardigan or scarf.

Monday Musings....

A woman's quest to be a better person, mom, friend, lover and many other specialties is a never-ending roller coaster ride where we always, willingly, take front seat. It seems to be in our nature but we need to be reminded to be kind to ourselves and others as they make mistakes. Because at one time or another, we've sucked at something.
So when someone who we believe has it together a little more than most is willing to share her secrets, successes and failures with the world, it's great to be able to soak up the tidbits of information that can make our daily lives that much easier.
For me, the topic that I get a big fat F for failure on, is cooking. So when a good friend of mine from college put together a blog that chronicles the various recipes and concoctions she has made, I was in love and automatically an avid reader (as well as the wife to a thankful husband.) She's the chick who taught me years ago how to make an awesome salad that to this day, I still have in my repertoire. I mean what 20 year old college student knows how to make a healthy, easy and nutritionally complete meal with anything except beer and Doritos? Which by the way, beer and Doritos are still the main ingredients in a meal for me - it's like I'm a perpetual bachelor.
The blog is called Random Me, Emily and you need to check it out asap. She's always finding the coolest deals in stationary and clothing and also chronicles her adventures in student teaching in which she just recently went back to school for. Oh, and she's also getting married in a few days. And consistent with her blog. And cooks. And has time to go out. And can actually wear her hair short and look cute. Ridiculous, I say. (Thanks Emily!) :)

We're baaaaccckkkkk.....!

Not that we've been anywhere, but we have taken a break from the blog since busy season kicked into high gear in July and haven't had a free moment to start it back up again. Until now!

A few updates on what's been going on since we last spoke:

* Unfortunately, while half-way through the completion of our website, some unforeseen circumstances occurred for the company we hired resulting in why the website hasn't been launched yet. But as we all know life happens to us all at some point and the real victory is getting back up again. I have hired a new company that comes highly recommended from my brother (who happens to be the most knowledgeable and proactive professional when it comes to the tech biz) I have full confidence that our new web gurus will finish the task and have us all excited for the final results! Many thank you's to our fans who have patiently been waiting for the site to launch. Your enthusiasm has been amazing! As soon as the site is complete we will shout it from the rooftops for all to hear :)

* All of our remaining summer stock is now 50% off! The hot weather is here to stay for a while so it's a great chance to take advantage of the sale. And you can save the clothes again for next year!

* For the new and improved blog we will dedicate each day to a specific topic and than revisit the topic for each new week. The new format will be as below:

*Monday's - Monday Musings; Bits of random information we find important in the world of style and decor. We'll also post local information for events and news.

* Tuesday's - "This week Moxie is...." ; Moxie is the name of our mannequins. Why Moxie? Because you need a lot of it to stand in front of the world and parade your outfit for all to see...and their certainly full of it. Each week we'll post pictures of their outfits and prices for each piece. Because that item you spotted and loved in the window? Yeah, it's really that affordable.

* Wednesday's - "As seen in..."; It seems that everyone in Hollywood would shop at Humanité given the chance (or we would like to hope so...) because each week we spot a different Humanité outfit or item on the big/little screen as well as in magazine spreads. You like the necklace Rachel was wearing on Bachelor Pad? We have it. No seriously. We do. And we'll show you each Wednesday who else was wearing one of our frocks.

* Thursday's - "The heartbeat of Humanité"; Stories and updates that will focus on the two organizations we support and that are the heartbeat of our store: Heart for Africa and Swain County New Century Scholars. Their the reason why Humanité exists. Yes we love fashion and style, but for us it's just the platform that allows us to pursue our hearts passion. To love.

*Friday's - Friday Funday! ; Random. Pointless. Humor.

Talk to you tomorrow! :)
