Who just started the newest project in retail adventures? This girl. And I'm happy to say with beaming pride that demolition has finally begun and the first stage of construction has at last taken off! The store is called Humanité; translated into English from the French spelling, it’s pronounced Human-a-tee. The merchandise is Women’s apparel, furniture and unique home goods. Professionally speaking, it’s fabulous.
So why a blog? At Humanité, we want to share everything with you. You’ll find pictures of the progress, ideas and of course the final result. But once our doors are open, we’ll continue to have the same open relationship with you! You can peruse our posts for new shipments, ideas for outfits, local style and general fascinations that we find inspiring. We’ll be funny, honest and informational while showcasing the love of one thing we all have in common: Bryson City.

Opening in March, 2010 and located in Bryson City, NC, Humanité is a retail trade store that provides stylish women’s apparel and unique home goods. Stocked with on-trend daywear, adorable party frocks, versatile work pieces, smart denim, and stylish basics, Humanité seeks to satisfy all of a woman’s wardrobe needs—whether it’s replenishing a long-neglected closet or finding that knockout piece for a special occasion.
Humanité also strives to take a compassionate and conscientious approach to providing high style at accessible price points. By seeking out “green” labels that utilize organic materials and eco-friendly production methods, Humanité supports companies that are conscientious of good environmental practices. To support both local and international artists and artisans, Humanité commission’s custom home goods—from chic feedsack pillows to furniture made of reclaimed wood. And, inspired by the work of the humanitarian organization Heart For Africa, owner Erin Smith commits 10% of Humanité’s profits to local and international charities that are doing the critical on-the-ground work of improving communities the world over.
